Burtons Drum Screen Cleaning Powder

Burtons Drum Screen Cleaning Powder

Drum cleaner to remove limescale and bio film from the drum screen. Can be used on our complete drum filter range plus many other manufacturers units.

How To Use:

Fill a trigger spray bottle with 1 litre of warm water then add 2 table spoons of burtons aquatics drum cleaner and allow to dissolve. Spray onto the drum mesh allow to sit for a minute then trigger a clean of the drum (lid on press OK). Alternatively mix 2-3 tablespoons of the drum cleaner with a small amount of water, then with a new soft paint brush gently apply the cleaner onto the mesh leave for a few minutes and then wash off. Turn the drum and apply to next section repeating the process until all the mesh is clean. Safe to go back to the pond in small amounts.

The Water Cleanser 
The Water Cleanser can best be described as a wax-like block to grow bacteria and microbes. If you put it under a strong microscope you will see millions of capillary openings that serve as a home for beneficial bacteria and microbes that provide a healthy water quality. The Water Cleanser has been tested for more than 12 years and has a positive effect on all aquatic life. In addition, the Water Cleanser can also be used in swimming pools, which means fewer chemicals can be used.

How to Dose

To minimize clouding of the water, a daily dose of 4g per 220 gallons ( 1,000 ltrs) will suffice. Best added in the evening

Active Mix Bio – Biological harmony in your pond

Active Mix Bio is a combination of substances including photosynthetic and lactic acid bacteria, yeasts and trace elements. This combination has a positive impact on the natural balance and biological life resulting in a perfect equilibrium. It also strongly promotes the biological conversion of ammonia and nitrites into nitrates. The fact that this mix is already in an activated state means it has a direct and rapid effect on your pond.

Photosynthetic bacteria:

Produce substances that promote the growth of micro-organisms, especially heterotrophic bacteria. During conversion they produce valuable substances from organic waste and harmful matter in the water. Photosynthetic bacteria also compete with algae for nutrients and sunlight. In the case of algae, light is absorbed by chlorophyll, just like with regular plants. However, with photosynthetic bacteria, photosynthesis takes place directly in the cell. Consequently, this provides the additional benefit of reducing algae growth.

 

Lactic acid bacteria:

  • Suppress pathogenic germs and other harmful micro-organisms and promote a rapid degradation of organic material (waste substances).

Other additives in the Active Mix Bio (e.g. yeasts and trace elements) suppress harmful fungi and produce bioactive compounds. Effect of Active Mix Bio Biological processes occur everywhere, breaking down waste products and turning them into useful substances. The degradation and composition can take place in different ways depending on circumstances. The most important thing is to prevent degradation processes such as rotting. In the world of micro-organisms, various groups exist and these can either be useful or harmful. It is important that the useful ones maintain the upper hand if we are to prevent the rotting processes occurring. By adding Active Mix Bio, the useful bacteria receive a powerful boost at the expense of harmful micro-organisms. Active Bio Mix supports the nitrifying effects of the biological filter as well as the degradation of organic materials. Pond Logs, Mini Pond Logs, and Pond Zingers are designed to work in flowing conditions.  As water moves over and around the log, it slowly dissolves, releasing its components into the water column causing excess inanimate nutrients, such as phosphorous, to bind together.  As they bind together, the particulate gets heavier and heavier and then settles to the bottom of the pond or is filtered out.

It is important to note that Pond Logs do not remove all the inanimate nutrients, just enough to create a healthy ecosystem.  Our pond products typically see a 75-90% reduction of phosphorus. All APS products are safe for fish; no need to monitor pH.

Dosage:

Pond Logs treat 20,000 to 100,000 gallons of water and Pond Zinger treats 500-12,000 gallons of water.

Installation:

APS Pond products can be installed above an aerator, under a floating fountain, on the steps of a waterfall or with any circulation mechanism.  The water must be moving over and around the Pond Products for them to work.
