Can Koi Survive Winter?

Yes koi can survive the winter, Koi are cold-blooded animals. This means their body temperature depends on the water around them. Because of this, they can survive in cooler waters, but it also changes how their bodies work. In the colder months, especially when pond temperatures drop, Koi slow down a lot. They usually stay near the bottom of the pond, where it is warmer. Although they are less active, Koi still swim short distances sometimes. This helps keep their joints flexible, prevents stiffness, and supports their overall health as they slow down.
