What Is A Pre Filter?
Pre Filters are designed to collect undesirable materials such as leaves, fish waste and string algae before they reach your main filter. In smaller ponds, skimmer baskets can often suffice. However, as pond sizes increase, the amount of debris generated also increases, making pre-filters more crucial. They are particularly important if you have a filter that’s challenging to clean, like a gravel filter, since these usually only receive maintenance once or twice a year. By keeping more waste out of these filters, you will reduce the frequency of required cleaning.
