What Should The KH In My Pond Be?
The optimal KH levels should be around 125ppm, though fluctuations of about 20ppm within safe parameters either way.
KH indicates the degree of carbonate hardness in your pond, reflecting the concentration of calcium carbonate in the water. Calcium carbonates are crucial because they serve as nourishment for the nitrifying bacteria responsible for removing toxic ammonia and nitrates from the pond water. These advantageous bacteria are a vital component of the bio-filter system within your pond. If not maintained correctly, your pond may face considerable danger and would depend heavily on your mechanical filtration system.
If the KH in your pond is low you could add some NT Labs KH – Buffer Up
