Mountain Tree Spiral Filter Mat

Zeolite
Zeolite reduces the Ammonia in your pond creating a healthier environment for your Koi. It works by trapping and absorbing Ammonia, extracting it from your ponds water.
Ammonia is the number one killer of pond fish, maintaining a health level of ammonia within in your ponds ecosystem is essential, and this product can aid in this process.
As it absorbs the ammonia, soaking in salt overnight will release the entrapped ammonia enabling it to be reused. However, should you need to treat your pond with salt or other medications you must remove the Zeolite from your filter system as the entrapped ammonia will be released back into your system.

Oyster Shells
Oyster Shells have been used for years by Koi professionals to help with the pH of the water and to maintain optimal water conditions and is extensively used in Japan.
Since the Oyster Shells will generally raise the pH level in your water, these should only be used in cases of low pH.
Oyster Shell generally will raise the level of the pH.
For those that ever ever been to Japan, Oyster shell is used extensively by the breeders in Japan, these soluble (soft) shells are used to stabilise the pH.
Oyster shells stabilise the pH / KH-value which prevents pH crash. If the KH value drops to this starts to dissolve the shells until balance is reached again. Nitrifying bacteria also grows on the oyster shell.
Mountain Tree Carbon Wool Pad
Mountain Tree Carbon Wool Pad is specifically designed to aid the cleaning of the water, remove particles and get your pond water crystal clear. The wool effectively polishes the water, quickly removing the particles which create the cloudiness, and the carbon impregnated foam removes chemical pollutants for sparkling clear water. We suggest using it when water becomes cloudy yellow and smelly.

Foam Cartridges
Foam Cartridges are manufactured from high quality polyether foam which gives a large surface area.
These filters can be used in conjunction with additional filter matting to give sparkling water quality. These Foam Cartridges are made from quality foam can be used in conjunction with filter matting to help with water clarity in your pond, they can also be used with spray bars and over pump inlets to stop heavy solids going through the pump.
Media Grids
A most useful aid for anyone building their own filtration system these can be placed at a level that provides a void of water underneath the media itself and keeps the media out of any debris that may have gathered in the filter.
It supports the media and is quite robust and is a must really can be fixed together and cut to size using simply a fine toothed wood saw or angle grinder.

Alfagrog
Alfagrog is a porous foamed ceramic material, which is lightweight, strong and inert.
It’s high surface area makes it the natural choice for colonisation by micro-organisms in biological filtration systems resulting in cleaner water.
The Alfagrog range of porous ceramic filter media is made under controlled conditions UK.
Selected clays and raw materials are rapidly sintered at high temperature to produce a foamed ceramic porous mass, which is crushed and sieved to a convenient particle size.
Alfagrog is available in a wide range of sizes giving the end user optimum media surface area in varying water flow rates.
The manufacturing process ensures that no substances are present to adversely affect the health of fish or plants. The material is pH neutral and can be used in both freshwater and marine applications.
Why is it so effective:
The key to effective biological filtration is choosing media with the highest surface area possible to allow beneficial bacteria to colonise and remove waste from the water. Alfagrog has an extremely high surface area by volume compared with other types of filter media on the market.

Made from a plastic resin base, these very strong sacks are ideal for all filter media and can be fully submerged without degrading of the material. Designed with a draw cord for quick sealing.
The ideal solution for gaining simple access for periodic cleaning to the filter contents. Size 85 cm x 52 cm approx and is capable of holding 2 cu.ft of Flocor for instance.
